In ancient Greek mythology, TYCHE was one of the daughters of Oceanus, and the goddess (nymph) of a spring surging out of the depths of the ground. Ancient Greeks believed that the nymphs and gods of the rivers helped women to conceive, nurse and raise their children. The Greek poet Hesiod was the first to mention the name TYCHE (in the 8th century BC).
